The Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) is contracted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to manage this website for the National Literacy and Numeracy Week (NLNW) activity “Reach for the Stars”.

All personal information collected on this website is collected in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. Information on the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 can be found on the Federal Privacy Commissioner’s website.

The AAMT collects personal information (such as your name and email address and your school’s name and address) when you register on the website to receive information about Reach for the Stars.

Personal information may also be collected via your or your school’s participation in Reach for the Stars. Participation in the activity may involve the sharing of your ideas and feedback, which may then (if you indicate your permission) be made publicly available on this website.

Use and disclosure of personal information collected

AAMT uses your personal information collected on this website for the purposes of:
• Notifying you of the Reach for the Stars activity and providing occasional updates about progress in development of the website and conduct of the activity.
• Conducting the prize draw associated with Reach for the Stars.
• Responding to enquiries from other organisations (including state/territory education departments and the media) regarding possibilities for contacting schools which are involved in the activities.
• Reporting aggregated statistics regarding registration and participation numbers to DEEWR.

AAMT usually discloses your personal information to DEEWR. DEEWR uses the personal information collected for the purposes of identifying schools that will participate in NLNW activities.
AAMT may disclose your personal information to third parties in limited circumstances authorised under or required by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (e.g. preventing fraud or imminent threat to the life or health of the individual concerned or another person).
Personal information collected on this website is only used for the purposes for which it was originally collected.

Access to your information

AAMT will provide you with access to your personal information upon request and let you either correct such information if it is inaccurate or delete it, when reasonably possible.
